It is a truth universally acknowledged … that all authors need editors.
Do you have a romance, women’s fiction/chick lit, young adult, or middle grade novel you’re seeking a professional editor for? I’m an experienced developmental editor with over 200 romance novels—and dozens more young adult novels and children’s books—under my belt. I would love to talk with you about your project!
I spent six years as a Senior Editor at Crimson Romance (the digital romance imprint of Simon & Schuster) and have glowing feedback from my authors. (See below for some testimonials!) I also aim to provide very competitive rates, as I know how expensive and daunting the self-publishing process, and the agent/publisher search, can be.
My rates are for developmental editing (big picture notes and questions, as well as line edits and light copy edits). I work exclusively in Microsoft Word track changes, and my rates also include a second read (as long as the author agrees to make their revisions in track changes), to make sure everything was addressed sufficiently.
Novellas under 50k words = $0.01 per word
Novels 50k – 70k words = $500 (So basically the $0.01 rate for the first 50k, and the next 20k are free.)
Novels 70k – 80k words = $500 for the first 70k, then $0.01 per word above that. (So, for example, a 74,000 word book would be $540.)
Novels above 80k words (95k words max) = $600
Novels above 95k words = contact me to discuss rates
Depending on my schedule (and how long the book is), I usually need between three and five weeks to turn around a developmental edit.
* Rates are subject to change; please email me for a quote.
*Please note that at this time I am not taking on projects in the Christian/Inspirational subgenre.
